Bumps and Bruises
Aubrey and Eli seem determined to fall at every available opportunity. I find myself examining every room like some sort of Secret Service operative assessing threat possibilities. As the summer comes to a close for us, I feel like I am also headed for my own metaphorical table corner. While I am excited about returning to teaching, a profession I love, I am so very sad about missing large portions of each day seeing Aubrey and Eli talk, walk, and grow. Sigh. But I never lose sight of how blessed I am to have two healthy children. Nobody said it would be easy!

Crazy Morning
As a Presbyterian, I am not predisposed toward coincidences. So it shouldn't surprise me that on the morning both my children decide to drive me to drink, Aubrey reads the "Thank You Prayer" book out loud (with some serious rewrites on her behalf) and I check in on a friend's post and am reminded how grateful I should be that both of my kids are currently healthy. Another friend and I discussed how difficult it seems right not that we will be back in school in another three weeks, passing our children to different caretakers for the majority of the day. All of this combines to make me review the hectic, "are you serious?" morning in a completely different light. Thank You, God, for always showing us what we need to see.

Eli's Walking!
So Eli is now officially a walker. He has been so close for so long. Everyone (doctor included) would watch him cruise and say, "Any minute now!" But laid-back Eli kept us waiting until 13 months (almost to the day). Today I watched him walk around our play area outside for the first time. It was like a whole new world for him (and me!)
